France. We only stayed for one night in France so we only had time to visit part of the Alsace region, which is located on the west bank of the upper Rhine River adjacent to Germany and Switzerland.

We left Switzerland in the morning then drove straight to
Colmar, a small town in Alsace, France.
The weather was great that day and we spent our afternoon strolling along the streets of the old town which was incredibly well preserved. There's a variety of shops selling different kind of things, from souvenirs to antiques, as well as restaurants and cafes serving French pastries.
Alsace was the last town in France to be freed after WWII. It changed nationalities between France and Germany many times in the course of history which explains the unique combination of German and French architecture style in the town.

Being in this town makes you feel like you're in a medieval town film set. It's so properly maintained that it brings you back in time. The most picturesque place in this town is "Little Venice" which has small canals where you can take a boat trip on to enjoy views of the town.

We had lunch at a Alsatian restaurant after we were done exploring the old town. We ordered Alsatian specialties,
Choucroute Garnie - sauerkraut with sausages, pork, and potatoes, and
tarte à l'oignanan aka onion tart. We also tried their desserts, chocolate mousse and honey crepes and they're so good!

Before leaving, we stopped by an ice cream shop to get ourselves sorbet and meringues.

We didn't stay for long as we had to get to Strasbourg before the supermarkets close in the evening. Colmar is such a pretty and colourful town and it was so fun to explore around. If I had more time I wouldn't mind sitting outdoors at a cafe, people-watching while enjoying the cold spring air.
That's an absolutely amazing place!

Travelling doesn't need to be fancy or costly but need to be a memorable one. Have you ever thought about traveling around the world? Agatha Singer has got an amazing article on this topic, you may read it here. This woman inspires me a lot. Maybe, you'll find her interesting, too?
