Eat All You Can at Pak John Steamboat & BBQ - Review

Who doesn't love eat-all-you-can buffets? If you're staying near Putrajaya area, you can try out Pak John Steamboat & BBQ in IOI City Mall Putrajaya. I was shopping there last week and went to try out this restaurant for dinner. This halal friendly buffet restaurant offers a variety of dishes - more than 160 choices! They focus on providing quality and fresh food for their customers.

"We Only Serve Quality and Fresh"
Their pricing is considered OK for a buffet restaurant, could be a little pricey if you're a small eater. For adults, they charge RM32.90+ for lunch on weekdays and RM42.90+ for dinner. On weekends and public holidays, both lunch and dinner are charged the same price of RM42.90+. For kids below 12,  they charge RM17.95+ for lunch on weekdays and RM22.95+ for dinner. On weekends and public holidays, both lunch and dinner are charged at RM22.95+. However, if you kids are below 5, they eat for free!

For their steamboat, they offer 5 different options for your soup base: prawn, tomyam, chicken, curry and miso. I decided to go with chicken soup, the typical steamboat soup base we usually have. You can choose to cook your food on the BBQ grill or boil it in the soup. I prefer cooking my food in the soup rather than on the BBQ grill because the oil kept splattering around. (One thing I was annoyed about was how oily the whole restaurant was. The chairs and tables were very oily and even the floor was very slippery to walk on.)

So many different sauces for you to choose from to dip your food in
They also serve cooked food for you to eat if you're hungry while waiting for your steamboat and BBQ to be ready.

Some cooked rice and noodles available

They have a wide selection of both fresh and processed seafoods such as flower crabs, scallops, lalas, cuttlefish balls, crabsticks and many more. There are also different flavours of marinated chicken like black pepper, honey and soy sauce. However, there weren't that many choices for their vegetables that night, probably because I didn't see any that I like LOL but they do have many other non-meat choices like tofus and mushrooms. There are also different types of noodles for you to cook in your soup. They have pretty much everything you can get in a normal (halal) steamboat restaurant but with more options.

There is a counter where you can order dim sum and fresh meat such as sliced beef, lamb and abalone and smoked duck. Their sliced beef and lamb are super fresh, they only slice it for you when you order from the counter! The sliced beef and smoked duck were my favourites that night. Best thing about it was I could keep ordering and eat as much as I liked!

For dessert, you can either have the ones from the self-service area such as cakes and fruits or go to the counters where they have ice cream and waffles and ice kacang. I was already super full after having all that meat so I only had space in my stomach left for some ice cream. They didn't label their ice creams but I think it's easy to tell what flavours they are.

Chocolate chip mint & cookies n cream(?) + nuts topping
Waffles with different choices of flavours

Free flow of beverages such as coffee, orange juice, lemonade and more

Overall, I enjoyed dinning at Pak John Steamboat & BBQ. I like how the food they serve is really fresh like how they claimed it is. There are so many choices for food, you don't have to worry about not finding anything you like. Other than the oily chairs, table and floor, everything else was fine for me.

You can come here with your family or with your small group of friends so you can share one pot. But if you wanna come in a big group, they do have a large table with partitions for some privacy.

Pak John Steamboat and BBQ is located at the outdoor area of IOI City Mall at ground floor (lot GE-11). They open from 10am-10pm daily.
