Jungfrau, Switzerland | Top of Europe

Jungfrau
We stopped by Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein before continuing our journey to Switzerland. Having an area of only 160 square kilometres, Liechtenstein is the sixth smallest country in the world and it has around 37,000 people only!

We arrived in InterlakenSwitzerland in the evening and roamed around the town before the sun went down. The surrounding mountains make every angle of this town picture worthy.

I realised there are more Chinese and Koreans in this town than there are Swiss people hahaha but it is a well-known resort town so most of the people here are tourists.

One of the highlights of my Europe trip was going to Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe, which has a height of 3,454 metres above sea level. It is a col and a glacial pass between the Jungfrau mountain and the Mönch mountain in the Bernese Alps and it also has the highest train station in Europe. We went up there on our second day in Switzerland by cogwheel train, transiting from one station to another. We got to Kleine Scheidegg from Interlaken via Grindelwald and took another train to Jungfraujoch. The whole train ride took more than two hours and the price for the train ticket was quite expensive (206 CHF) but the spectacular views of the mountains we got from the train made it worth it.

There are a lot of activities available up there including snow tubing, skiing, snowboarding, visiting the ice palace, getting a panoramic view on the Sphinx observatory and many more. After we arrived, the first place we went to was the Sphinx observatory and I forgot how to breathe once I saw the view. I'll let the pictures do the talking..

-6.6 degrees celsius!

the view that took my breath away

We visited the ice palace after we were done playing with snow. Everything was made of ice including the floor which made it difficult to walk on because of how slippery it was. There were hallways and tunnels made of ice and ice sculptures of animals and things which were so cool!

Jungfraujoch was so beautiful and it was such a great experience. The trip may be expensive but it was definitely worth it!
