Innsbruck, Austria | Capital of The Alps

Famous landmark of Innsbruck - Colourful houses along the Inn River
We went on a one day trip to Innsbruck, capital city of Tyrol in western Austria. Stunning views of the Nordkette Mountain Range which is located in the north of the city can be seen in almost every corner of this city and it's soooo beautiful!!! People who travel to Innsbruck usually go skiing but we only wanted to roam around the picturesque Altstadt (Old Town) when we were there. The weather was really good that day, we didn't have to wear a jacket and the bright blue sky & white fluffy clouds made my photos look great!

This city is so colourful!

There's nothing like strolling through the cobblestone streets on a sunny afternoon in spring, enjoying the incredibly marvellous view of the mountains surrounding the city and the medieval buildings in this historic town.

We stopped by an Austrian restaurant (which had high ratings on foursquare) for lunch. I ordered an Austrian dish, Wiener Schnitzel, which is a thin, breaded and pan fried cutlet. I ordered veal but they gave me chicken instead but I was extremely hungry so I didn't want to have it changed.

Maria Theresien Straße (Maria Theresien Street) is one of the busiest streets in Innsbruck. This top rated tourist destination is filled with shops, cafes and restaurants which makes it perfect to spend the afternoon roaming in.

I fell in love with every inch of this town, it's absolutely beautiful! Such a shame that we were only in Austria for a day, I can't wait to be back to visit other places in Austria like Vienna, Hallstatt and Salzburg! Stay tuned for my next Europe post - Switzerland.
