It's been almost 3 years since I last left my own country to visit other places so my family decided that we should go on a vacation somewhere out of Malaysia during this one week Raya holiday. We chose to travel to Bangkok, Thailand, where it is famous for being a shopping haven for both ladies and men, and since we needed new clothes, so why not ?
Under recommendations of a few friends, we decided to stay in Novotel at Siam Square and we were glad that we made the right choice, The hotel was 5 minutes walk away from the BTS station, 15 minutes from Platinum Mall, and not to mention it's surrounded by many restaurants !
We arrived at the airport in the afternoon so we only had half of our day left to spend. We wandered around the city by the BTS (aka Skytrain) from station to station. It's the rainy season now in Thailand but we were lucky that it didn't rain for long or too heavily and the weather was pretty cooling.
Some shots of the buildings in Bangkok.
Food trucks found outside of most malls.
Can never miss mango sticky rice in Thailand.
Had some street food for dinner.
One of the highly recommended dessert places in Bangkok - After You.
We were very full after dinner but hey, there's always room for dessert!
One of their best sellers, the mango sticky rice kakigori. They have actual sticky rice and mango in the core !
Shibuya honey toast with salted caramel and cookies and cream ice cream.

Had breakfast on the second day at a small restaurant where locals would normally go.
More shots of the streets of Bangkok taken while we were walking to the mall.
The best rated wholesale mall in Bangkok would be Platinum Fashion Mall. The mall sells a variety of reasonably priced clothes as well as shoes, accessories and bags (though most of them are fake branded handbags). It's a huge mall with three zones and to completely finish walking around the entire mall it may take up to four days. I was happy to be able to grab some nice pieces of clothes with great deals.

On the third day, we went to have boat noodle for lunch nearby the Victoria Monument by Skytrain.
Some pictures taken while we were walking to the restaurant after getting down from the train at the Victory Monument station.
The noodles were so good but they were too spicy for me :(
After lunch, we went back to Platinum Mall to continue shopping since we haven't been to the other zone yet.
Had more food in the food court above the mall during our shopping break !
After we were done with our shopping, we walked to Central World to have dinner with one of my dad's friends.

On our last morning, we had breakfast at a local hawker centre nearby our hotel. This is where the locals normally go for breakfast or lunch.
A peek into some of the stalls.
I had tomyum meehoon (50 baht) which was really spicy.
As it was our last day and our flight back home was in the evening we only had a few hours left so we decided to just walk around in the malls nearby.
